Legend holds that Taru was a village chief who was killed in a mythological encounter with a tiger. Taru was deified and a shrine dedicated to Taru now exists beneath a large tree on the banks of Tadoba Lake.
The best time to visit is during the winter season from November to February when the climate is cool and pleasant. However, if you want to spot tigers easily, summers are the best (March - June).
By Air: Scheduled flights operate from all major cities to Nagpur which is the closest airport. By Road: The reserve is about a 3 hour drive from Nagpur, depending on road conditions.
Safaris are generally safe when following the guidance of experienced guides and camp staff. Always remain in vehicles during game drives.

Tadoba has a tropical climate with three main seasons: Winter (November-February) is cool and pleasant with temperatures of 25-30°C and lush greenery; Summer (March-June) is very hot, with temperatures reaching up to 47°C, but offers good tiger sightings due to scarce water and vegetation; and Monsoon (July-September) features heavy rainfall and high humidity, with the park's core zones closed to tourists.
